Notes and gaps
- Every Hebrew/Aramaic quotation shown on screen was machine-checked against the OCR of the sefer's own pages (letters only, OCR slips allowed); 22 quotations that could not be matched with confidence were left out of the video rather than guessed.
- The text used: Vayoel Moshe, Hakdama and Maamar Shalosh Shevuos, from the daat.ac.il scan of the sefer (OCR); Maamar Yishuv Eretz Yisroel and Maamar Lashon HaKodesh from the typed text at otzarmaharit.com (no page images are shown for those two maamarim); Al HaGeulah ve'al HaTemurah from the scan of the Brooklyn edition (mysatmar.com). OCR of both is imperfect; where a passage was unreadable it is noted below and in the narration.
- Where other authorities disagree, the narration mentions it only briefly and attributed, without quotations; the focus is the Rebbe's own words and reasoning.
- After most of Maamar Shalosh Shevuos was already narrated, a typed edition of the sefer (otzarmaharit.com) became available. The 818 on-screen quotations of the Hakdama and Maamar Shalosh Shevuos were re-checked against it: 770 match closely; 48 differ slightly, mostly where the typed edition writes out abbreviations (for example י״ת → יתברך שמו) or gives a pasuk in full where the print abbreviates it. All 818 match the scan of the printed sefer.
- Al HaGeulah ve'al HaTemurah: every on-screen quotation was checked against both the scan OCR and the typed edition before narration. For scan pages 98–103, where the OCR is poor, the chapter was written from the typed edition.
- The typed edition at otzarmaharit.com does not name the printing it was typed from. It adds bracketed source references, for example (במדבר לג, נג-נד), and a little nikud. In Maamar Yishuv Eretz Yisroel it marks 4 places as left out with (...). Those spots are taught as the text stands.
- The last pages of the Al HaGeulah scan (pp. 187–204) carry two additions of this edition, taught in parts 144–146: a passage the editors copied from the Yaavetz's Migdal Oz (the Yaavetz's words, not the Rebbe's), and the "השמטה", a maamar that, as the edition says, was left out of the first printing.
- The sefer's index (מפתח, scan pp. 205–222 of Al HaGeulah) is not taught, since it only lists topics already covered. The memorial and dedication page at the end of Vayoel Moshe is not shown.
- Where an on-screen quotation could not be matched with confidence, it was left out, so occasionally the narrator says "the Rebbe writes:" and moves straight on to the explanation.
- Part 1: vm02.pdf p6: the continuation of the Eicha Rabbah quote (with לולי תורתך שעשועי אז אבדתי בעניי) is printed in the OCR as scattered single letters; not quoted, only described.
- Part 3: vm02.pdf p15 top: the close of the Radak passage ("את״ד ועיי״ש ברד״ק") is garbled; the pasuk words "כי מנסה ה׳ אלקיכם אתכם" are read from the slightly corrupted OCR "בי מנמה".
- Part 5: vm03.pdf p2: the name of the amora before ״אמר להם הקב״ה״ is garbled in the OCR (״ר4א״); the speaker's name is therefore not read from the text.
- Part 5: vm03.pdf p6 last lines are garbled in the OCR (״גל~ ל החוזר בעולם ולא פליג רבנן...״); the sentence was paraphrased cautiously and not quoted.
- Part 6: vm03.pdf p8: the word that some printings omit is garbled in the OCR; from context it is "בזמן הבית", but it is not quoted.
- Part 6: vm03.pdf p11 top: the opening words of the page are garbled ("תראה דסברי WNW כן בזה״ב"); the sense is that they hold the saying applies only in Temple times. Not quoted.
- Part 6: vm03.pdf p12: the Tosafos reference is garbled in the OCR ("קעי ע״ב"); per context and the digest it is כתובות קי״א ע״ב.
- Part 7: vm03.pdf p15: the siman numeral before "ומעתה צריך להבין דעת ר״ז" is missing in the OCR; probably siman י׳.
- Part 7: vm03.pdf p17: a lone "י" line appears after this paragraph; likely a scan artifact, not a new siman.
- Part 8: vm03.pdf p19: the exact Tosafos reference in Pesachim daf 3 is partly garbled in the OCR ("a#y ד"ה מאליי"); the dibbur hamaschil is not read with certainty, so it is not quoted.
- Part 8: vm03.pdf p23: one word in the line "כי אם העלי' מרובה שתר יש בזה" is unclear in the OCR, so that sentence is not quoted.
- Part 10: p31: the OCR reads "וישג אותם אברם"; the pasuk reads וישב. The narration renders it as וישב inside the markers, treating it as an OCR slip.
- Part 11: vm04.pdf p5: in the Rambam quote the word "וינכלו" is unclear in the OCR, so the quote was stopped before it. vm04.pdf p1: the Rosh's wording "אלא טלה אפשר לעשות" is garbled (digest says cherem), so it was paraphrased, not quoted; the end of siman ל״ד "בזאבם" is also unreadable.
- Part 13: vm04.pdf p15: the lines identifying where in the sefer זקוקין דנורא this appears are scattered single letters in the OCR and cannot be read with certainty.
- Part 14: vm04.pdf p23: the daf number of the Gemara in Avodah Zarah reads נ״ב in the OCR copy (digest has נ״ה); the number is unclear, so it was not stated.
- Part 17: vm05.pdf p8: the reference to the לחם משנה in הלכות תשובה is garbled ("פעח העי"); taught as פרק ח׳ following context. Also on p8 the words after "ובסנהדרין שנענשו" ("ט״ב") are unclear, so the quote was cut before them. On p11 the line on the year count after the חורבן is partly broken up.
- Part 19: vm05.pdf p20: the opening word of siman סא is garbled in the OCR ("רעכעפ"); read tentatively as "העולה" in the quote.
- Part 20: vm05.pdf p27, end of siman סד: the OCR line "ומיושב אומרם ז״ל ... המילואים העמידו בכל יום" is broken by stray vertical letters; the gist is clear but not quoted verbatim.
- Part 20: vm05.pdf p27, lower lines: a part of the sentence about other needs of a house is printed as scattered single letters in the OCR and cannot be read word for word.
- Part 23: vm06.pdf p3: the Ramban passage and the following lines are garbled in the OCR (״ועקרים שבולם נסים״, a line beginning mid-word ״הלבבות כתב טעמים לזה״, and ״זיז ":ש״); only the opening words of the Ramban were quoted and the rest paraphrased.
- Part 23: vm06.pdf p4: after ״לבטל גזירתו של״ one word is unreadable in the OCR (״tnffa~n״), presumably a name of Hashem; quote cut before it.
- Part 25: vm06.pdf p14, siman פ״ד: one word after "בזכות" is garbled in the OCR ("נטרונ,14") and was not quoted.
- Part 25: vm06.pdf p16, siman פ״ו: the term the Rebbe uses for this arrangement is garbled in the OCR ("וטרטסטישי,"5"); it was rendered in the narration as טראסטישיפ, following the digest, and not quoted.
- Part 26: vm06.pdf p24: the opening of the line "והמסית ומדיה על (שהזו שלא ~אבד ע"ז בארץ ישראל" is garbled in the OCR; the sense is clear but it is not quoted verbatim, only explained.
- Part 27: vm06 p26, end of siman צ״ז: the word after "העתים שוות" is broken in the OCR ("לרחיים"); read as לרחמים by context.
- Part 27: vm06 p29: the Zohar daf is printed in the OCR as "מ״ר", read as מ״ו (ר/ו slip).
- Part 27: vm06 p30: the line opening the next unit is garbled in the OCR ("רכשכןי"); the siman number there cannot be read with certainty (likely סימן ק״א).
- Part 28: vm06 p35 top lines ("ויש גם לפרש... עכז דף ה׳") and p33 line on the heretics' claim are partly garbled; paraphrased, not quoted. p32 Sifre quote: "הרי לכם ארץ מצרים" reconstructed from broken OCR line ordering.
- Part 29: vm07 p1: the siman number at the start of this unit is not visible in the OCR; the digest suggests קה. Page 3 has a garbled siman marker "רב23ה", probably קז.
- Part 30: vm07.pdf p10 top lines are garbled in the OCR (header and the line about writing separately the חשש אמשוכי of מינות); paraphrased, not quoted.
- Part 33: vm07 p27: the siman number is printed garbled as "קפא"; by sequence it is קכ״א. The page header is also garbled.
- Part 33: vm07 p29: after "מלא" the OCR reads "מע"ג", apparently ע״ז; quote stopped before it.
- Part 35: vm08 p5: the words describing the sons of Eli's actual sin ("מה מורהו את קיניהם") are garbled in the OCR; not quoted.
- Part 35: vm08 p5: the name of the tzaddik ("והקדוש מראזדאל") is garbled; the digest reads it as the Rizhiner.
- Part 35: vm08 p8: the Yerushalmi's word for Aviyah's act ("שחישד את ירבעם") appears garbled in the OCR; not quoted.
- Part 36: vm08.pdf p13: the siman number is garbled in the OCR ("קי, ימו"); by sequence it is siman קל״ז.
- Part 37: vm08.pdf p17, siman קמ״א: the words "ע״י האמונה בהניאוץמינהוגת'דול" and a blank after "בכח מלכות של" are garbled/missing in the OCR; not quoted.
- Part 37: vm08.pdf p19: the siman numeral line before "ובגמרא כתובות" is not visible in the OCR; and the next numeral on p20 reads "קמר". Numbering treated as קמ״ג here per the digest's uncertainty.
- Part 37: vm08.pdf p22: siman numeral printed as "קמך"; the digest reads it as קמ״ד; numbered קמ״ה here following the sequence. Uncertain.
- Part 38: vm08 p23: a stray symbol "1ff1" appears between "במלכות שמים" and "להעמיד"; omitted from the quote.
- Part 38: vm08 p26: the opening lines of the siman are broken into single letters in the OCR (column split); the reference to the Ohr HaChaim and Parshas Shelach is legible only in fragments, so the opening is paraphrased, not quoted.
- Part 40: vm09 p4: the siman number is printed/OCR'd as "קמא"; by sequence it is קס״א.
- Part 41: vm09.pdf p8 ends with a line of garbled OCR symbols (around "__4,זשמק._") which carries no readable text; it was skipped.
- Part 43: vm09.pdf p18 bottom has garbled characters; the beginning of the Shulchan Aruch line continues on p19 ("מ״ב דאם יש..."), the reference reconstructed as ס״ב.
- Part 44: vm09.pdf p27: the opening line of siman קעח is scrambled in the OCR (letters of "אור האמת" broken vertically); the name of the sefer is clear from context and the following lines.
- Part 45: vm09.pdf p30–p31: OCR slips silently repaired in quotes (ממח→ממה, היי→הי׳, לחזקידי→לחזק ידי, ד׳→ה׳, הגודע→הנודע). p32 "בווי׳" read as בזוי׳. p33 Iggeres Teiman "ולאירו׳" read as ולא יהי׳; "ק״ו ב״ב של ק״ו" expanded as ק״ו בן בנו של ק״ו; "עלמי"→על מי, "אליי"→אליהו on p34. p35 is a memorial/donor page (skipped, names not read).
- Part 95: In siman 158 the reference to the words of Chazal about one who supports transgressors is left as "(...)" in the edition; the source is not specified there.
- Part 114: Scan p13: the siman number of the Midrash reference is garbled in the OCR (״סי׳ ״ב״), probably סימן י״ב; not stated in narration.
- Part 118: Scan p35: the heading line of this siman reads "ו" again in the OCR; by sequence it is siman ז. Labeled ז here.
- Part 119: Page p43: the reference to VaYoel Moshe is printed "ספ״ קל״ת", likely קל״ט; the digest reads §138. Narrated as סוף סימן קל״ט; uncertain.
- Part 120: p45: the Iyun Yaakov reference "בפ׳ עיון יעקב" is unclear in the OCR; p46 OCR reads "ר״מ" where context requires ר״ע; p50 a fragment "וכמ״ש הרמב״ם" stands alone and is unclear, not taught.
- Part 121: Scan p56: the OCR reads the Rambam reference as "בפ״ו מה׳ יסוה״ת ה״ו"; the digest gives chapter 7. The attribute above follows the digest correction (the cited text is from Yesodei HaTorah 7:7); verify against the printed sefer.
- Part 122: Page p62: a few lines are garbled in the OCR (fragments "מאמין ח"ו שיד ה' תו / כל לעשות", "ופלא יותר שהרי מרע"ה התרה בהם מפי הקב"ה ... להם לעונש הריגה", stray "שאכילת השלין. יהי"); quoted only clear passages. The next siman is marked "כו" in the OCR, apparently a misprint or OCR slip for כ״ז.
- Part 124: Page p71: the reference to the Radbaz responsum (the volume and siman number) is garbled in the OCR and is not read.
- Part 124: Page p72: the siman number appears in the OCR as "לח"; by sequence it is apparently siman לה.
- Part 125: Page p75: the siman number line reads only "ז" in the OCR; from the sequence it is siman ל״ז.
- Part 125: Page p78: the name of the rishon cited by the Manos HaLevi appears as "יוסף גאקון" in the OCR; the exact name is uncertain in the copy.
- Part 130: Page p107: the siman numeral at the top of this unit is not legible in the OCR (only "|"); by sequence it is apparently סימן ס.
- Part 131: alhag.pdf p111: the word in the Yalkut opening "לכו ופייפו את כנסת ישראל" is garbled in the OCR (apparently "ונחמו"); not quoted.
- Part 131: alhag.pdf p113: the siman number appears in the OCR as "פה"; from the sequence it is סימן ס״ה.
- Part 131: alhag.pdf p115: the siman number appears in the OCR as "1"; from the sequence it is סימן ס״ז.
- Part 133: Page p122: the siman number appears in the OCR only as a lone "ג"; per context and the digest it is siman עג.
- Part 133: Page p124: OCR reads "לעללא" for the Gemara word; corrected to לטללא as an obvious ט/ע slip.
- Part 133: Page p126: the siman number appears in the OCR as "ץח"; per context and the digest it is siman עח.
- Part 137: alhag.pdf p147: the daf/amud reference for the Gemara in Gittin is garbled in the OCR ("גיין גיועיא"); only the masechta is given in the narration.
- Part 137: alhag.pdf p146: the starting siman number of the reference to Vayoel Moshe maamar 1 is unclear in the OCR ("מסימן "ה"); only "until siman 65" is given.
- Part 137: alhag.pdf p148: the daf reference for the Gemara in Pesachim is garbled in the OCR ("דף ג' עיג"); only the masechta is given.
- Part 139: Scan p159: in the Zohar Chai quote the word after "רגלו אחת על פגר" reads "מובם" and is not certain; that phrase was not quoted.
- Part 142: Scan p175: the sefer's name is printed "מנות הלוי" in the OCR; the intended title is uncertain, so it was read as printed.
- Part 144: alhag.pdf p187: the colophon year is given by a chronogram in "למען תחי' וירשת את הארץ"; the marked letters are not legible in the OCR, so the year is not stated.
- Part 145: Page p197: the OCR gives the Sanhedrin daf as "עיז ע'א"; it is read as כ׳ ע״א per the context and the later Tosafos reference "כ׳ ע״ב".
- Part 146: Scan p200 contains only OCR noise with no readable Hebrew text, apparently a blank or decorative page; nothing taught from it.
